Our beliefs

We believe in God and his Holy Word, the Bible, and we believe he sent his son Jesus to die for our sins.

Our Mission

In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus issued the Great Commission stating, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." This verse drives our church and everything we do.

We seek to

F-Find the Lost

C-Communicate the Gospel, and

C-Create Disciples

through our children's, youth and outreach programs. We believe that the most important thing we can do in life is Love God and Love People.

our Story

Fletcher Christian Church was originally chartered  in 1905 as the First Christian Church with 26 founding members. In 1907 the first church building (pictured) was constructed at 203 South Selby.  In 1947 a new church building was constructed South of the original building and in 1952 a new parsonage was constructed at the location of the original building. In 1952 Bill Crater took over the ministry of the church and due to his teachings the First Christian Church decided to leave the Disciples of Christ Movement and became an independent Christian Church in 1967.

Plans for the current church were started in 1973 and the building was completed in 1978. The parsonage North of the church was built in 1980.  In 1989 the First Christian Church officially changed it's name to Fletcher Christian Church. In 1994 a North wing was added to the church building. During the 1980's the church had begun hiring youth ministers and so in 1996 a  youth minister's parsonage was purchased at 406 East Shields. In 2020 construction began on the a new youth building behind the existing church. It was completed in 2021.
